Recently a spate of sinkholes in Viet Nam, poor drainage of rivers in upland Thailand, and a sinkhole in the Philippines have drawn a remarkable line across the Sunda Plate. The Sunda Plate is that portion of the Eurasian Plate that is the tongue holding Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Viet Name, and the Philippines. Per the Zetas, the Sunda Plate operates as an extension of the Eurasian Plate, but the tongue has a distinct border. Note the remarkable correlation with this rash of recent incidents with the Sunda Plate border. All these incidents suddenly occurred around May 1 and during the two week following, as though the northern edge of the Sunda Platebentat that point, at that time. Note that the incidents took place in the main in highlands, too. Not a sinking issue.
At least four hectares of farmland in Barangay Bairan, City of Naga collapsed, changing the landscape of this upland village.
In Viet Nam sinkholes began appearing overnight in Huong Vinh, which is right on the Sunda Plate border. This was preceded by sinkholes at Lam Dong in south Viet Nam, and then a river bank collapsed, dropping morning shoppers into the water at Rach Cam. This does not appear to be sinking, but ground movement.
During the sinking of the Sunda Plate, there is pressure from the side as well as a press down on the Sunda Plate, the tongue of the Eurasian Plate holding Indonesia. Per the Zetas, the flooding in Thailand on October 30, 2010 and the rise of a new island near Bali on November 3, 2010 were related. As outlined inIssue 211of this newsletter, they were both part of accordion folding as the Sunda Plate was compressed from the side.
It appears to me that the tenor of the earthquake patterns at the southeastern tip of the Eurasian plate/Indonesian tongue has dramatically escalated this week with a new pattern of significantly deeper magnitude 5.x earthquakes along the southern, southeastern and eastern edges of the Eurasian plate/Indonesian tongue. Up until this week, I would say that 95% of all the 5.x earthquakes in this region over the past two years have been well under the 100 km mark in depth. And I have not seen a cluster like this during the past two years, all over 100 km and all relatively close to the southeastern tip of the Eurasian plate/Indonesian tongue, in just one week.

In step with the deep quake activity, a Sumatra volcano that had not erupted in 400 years became active. Sumatra is on the edge of the tongue.
The Sinabung Volcano on Indonesia's Sumatra island erupted this morning for the first time in 400 years, spewing ash and volcanic materials and prompting the evacuation of surrounding areas.
All this certainly indicates activity in deep rock at the end of the tongue, but what about the other side of the Indo-Australia Plate? Does all that flooding in Pakistan of late have something to do with a sinking edge? The Indus River is on the edge of the Indo-Australia Plate where it is being pushed under the Himalayas. Note the escalating concern as the magnitude of the flooding surpasses expectations.
ZetaTalkComment10/22/2011:The sinking of the Sunda Plate is not yet complete, despite the flooding in Thailand which has the residents of Bangkok almost hysterical. We described an accordion effect on the Sunda Plate, where it was pressed from the side as well as pushed down under the curve at Sumatra and Java. Even before Java began sinking, Thailand was in an accordion fold that lost elevation, experiencing worsening floods, while anew island near Balipopped up. This region near Bangkok appears to be reaching the 40 foot elevation drop we predicted, but this is deceptive as other parts of the Sunda Plate have not yet completed.

Quake cluster happened before and after strong quakes occurred near Sendai.
As horrific as this quake has been for Japan, it isnotthe start of the Japan 7 of 10 events we have described. For the 7 of 10 events, Japan must experience aseriesof quakes, starting on the South Island and then proceeding to the North Island.
